First Day of School

Gabby and Samantha (and mommy) were really excited for school to start. Gabby is looking forward to new adventures in fourth grade. She is happy that her friend Isabel from church is finally in her class. These two are in the same class in primary and they had some preschool together but haven’t been together at school until now. She’s definitely looking forward to that. Plus she will be doing more viola and will have a new teacher for Project Challenge whom she has previously had the chance to work with when she took a drama class during summer school last year.

Samantha is really excited to start kindergarten where she gets to have a new backpack and ride the big yellow bus and go to school! She’s so eager to learn and do all kinds of things.

The day finally arrived. Here they are in their first day of school pictures.

These are before Gabby went to the bus stop. Samantha has afternoon kindergarten so she had a while to wait yet.

You can tell Samantha is really excited. There is no crying here!

Later it was Samantha’s turn. She had obviously changed her mind about what she wanted to wear for her first day of school. It was the butterfly on her tights that she just had to wear today!

I just love this picture of her!

Katherine and Joseph came out to pose with her too.

Katherine decided to be funny!

Here she is getting on the bus and mommy giving her instructions on how to wait for the bus. I forgot to also have her watch for the other cars and make sure they’ve stopped. Well, we’re doing it again tomorrow. :)

As soon as she got on the bus we hopped in the car and drove over to the school. We beat the bus there so we got to see it pull up and see her come off the bus at school.

There was a teacher there helping them find their teachers. She was really good at noticing the kids who were confused and helping them feel comfortable and find their way.

I was surprised by how few kids there actually were there. Maybe we left before more of them came. Samantha says she has 21 kids in her class. Gabby has 28.

Samantha’s teacher is Mrs. McGann. Gabby has two teachers. Her main teacher is Mr. Angelone and the assistant teacher is Mrs. Monoletto.

Gabby enjoyed her first day. She says “It was awesome! We didn’t do any work!”

Samantha enjoyed her first day too. Her most favorite thing was riding the school bus! She enjoyed story time and making handprints on paper with paints.
