Rehoboth – Wednesday August 13, 2009

On Wednesday of beach week we met up with my family at Rehoboth. Rob came down from Massachusetts for his class reunion the day before and then came down with mom, Mike and Kara to spend time at the beach.

The beach at Rehoboth was somewhat eroded so there was a shelf of sand to sit on and play on.  It is obvious in some of the pictures. If you want to play in the water you had to step down to get in. This was fine during low tide but at high tide the water would push you too close to that shelf therefore making body surfing, in my opinion, too dangerous. At least it wasn’t as bad as when we went to Ocean City MD a couple years before when the shelf was a lot higher and the tide was in and water was rough. I was so nervous with Alan’s body surfing then. But we had some good low tide time here.

I like to bring my babies to the beach when they are so little like this. They sleep and are really easy to take care of. Plus there’s lots of sounds and smells and textures for them to experience not to mention the fresh air. I love these of Joseph sleeping on the beach.

August 2009 135Katherine was a little tired and Joseph’s car seat was perfect for her to relax in. As long as she had that and her butterfly blankie she was fine.

My mom, very happy to be here and NOT at work. A well deserved break.

The little pool was a life-saver because the waves were too rough for Samantha and Katherine.

You can see there is a shelf made by the eroding beach. It was perfect for parents to sit on while the kids played around them.

I love this one. I wish it had turned out more clearly but I think I’d gotten a little sunscreen on my camera lens or something. But it is a cute picture nonetheless. Alan and Sam relaxing and watching the things around them.

I enjoyed my vantage point where I was sitting. Joseph was hungry so I was a little tied to the chair. But it gave me lots of opportunities to snap shots of my family playing on the beach.

Samantha really loves to play in the sand and especially loved the purple watering can that I got for her earlier in the day.

I didn’t get in to swim. The waves were too rough and I was still healing from my c-section. Just playing it safe. Gabby didn’t get in very far either. Mostly on my insistence but you can see that she still had lots of good wave playing fun!

Alan and I love to body surf but most especially Alan. He loves it when the ocean gets a bit rough because the waves carry him right up the beach. This was a fun day for him.

Plus he got to play with my bros and that was fun too. Here’s a shot of him catching a wave.

What a fun day we had. We went to lunch at Grotto Pizza. A tradition for Rehoboth Beach. After a great day of playing on the beach some split off to do some shopping on the boardwalk. We went to get ice-cream and buy some salt-water taffy at Dolles, another Rehoboth beach tradition and then went on home after unsuccessfully trying to find the others to say goodbye.

I’m happy my family was able to come down and have some fun with us! I always love our trips to the beach!
